Following the directive by His Majesty the King of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for his subjects occupying the Royal Land to start paying Busuulu in all the 18 Counties of Buganda, the Leadership of Buwekula County on Wednesday launched a drive to traverse all the 16 Sub Counties in Buwekula-Mubende meeting Kabaka’s subjects sensitizing them to fulfill the directive.
The Kabaka Land is being managed by Buganda Land Board but under the new guidelines it’s incumbent on all County Chiefs and their councils (lukiiko) to ensure that this ground rent is paid.
While commissioning this exercise at Buwekula Lukiiko Hall in East Division Mubende Municipal Council, the Buwekula County Chief Nantaayi Immaculate Kafeero asked the people of Mubende to positively respond to this exercise, since it gives grounds for on to claim for occupancy.
Owek. Nantaayi said, this will also help to mitigate the problem of evictions in Buwekula.
Meanwhile, the mass ground rent collection exercise by the Buganda Land Board which was launched last month requires all tenants on the Kabaka’s land to pay rent as set by the district land boards.
