Former minister Mathew Rukikaire lied in his new book over Budo leadership credentials, this is according to Dr Edward Kayondo, the President emeritus of Old Budonians Club.
Rukikaire launched his book titled, “70 Year a witness” last Thursday at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
In his speech, he former minister said the book is influenced by Uganda’s political evolution over the last 70 years but noted there is need for Ugandans to come together and avoid divisions.
“We have a major task of seeing Uganda and East Africa integrate politically but we must build strong institutions to ensure this is achieved,” he said.
In part of his book, Rukikaire said that he was the first non-muganda Head Prefect of Kings College Budo.
However, according to Dr Kayondo, this is a total lie.
“My attention has been drawn to part of the serialization of Mr Mathew Rukikaire book titled , Seventy Years , A witness, in the Daily Monitor of November 22,2019 in which he claims to have been the first non-Muganda head prefect of Kings College Buddo (in 1960),” said Dr Kayondo in a comments section of one of the local dailies.
“The record show; A one Kirya (a Mugwere) –head prefect in 1931; Wanyoto (a Mugishu) – head prefect 1937; Wako Muloki (a Musoga) –head prefect in 1940 and 1941; and John Wilson (half English) –head prefect in 1943.”
