Robert Kabushenga has publicly apologized to people who gathered outside his office with the hope o receiving Shs5,000,000.
On Wednesday morning, hundreds of Boda Boda riders and ‘regular people on foot’ brought business in Industrial Area to a standstill as they waited for a one Kamada Mulyowa to give them the said money, allegedly on behalf of the Illuminati.
Kamada, the self proclaimed head of Illuminati in Uganda, is said to have made the pronouncement on Tuesday evening during a talk show hosted by Uganda Journalists Association head, Bashir Kazibwe on Bukedde Radio.
According to our sources, the boda boda riders camped outside Uganda’s Leading Daily, New Vision from as early as 3am waiting for the so-called head of illuminati to show up at 3pm on Wednesday afternoon.
They came from as far Mbarara, Mbale and Rakai.
By 3pm, the lot became rowdy after waiting for too long, threatening to burn down New Vision premises.
The Police and Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel who had been on watch since 7am used tear gas to disperse the crowd. Most, however, refused to leave, claiming New Vision management and staff wanted to take the money yet Kamada had specifically said it was theirs.
“This is our gift from (President) Museveni and God. Why would (Robert) Kabushenga call the Police yet our man (Kamada) is on his way to help us get out of poverty? Do you know what that money can do for our lives?” Hassan Kalema, a boda rider from Bwaise shouted as he rode away from the ensuing chaos.
Together with his colleagues, they were seen re-strategising around Chillies takeaway.
This prompted Kabushenga, the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director and Managing Director of The New Vision Printing & Publishing Co to apologise to the agitated lot.
You have asked that I apologise, for all that you have gone through and before this big camera here, I apologise. Please forgive me,” he said in Luganda, a local dialect.
He added, “The man hoodwinked us and we also did the same to you. Please forgive me.”
