Salim Uhuru, the ruling party-National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman for Kampala central has said that he feels demotivated and heartbroken following President Yoweri Musveni’s appointment of faded singer Buchaman and Catherine Kusasira as Presidential envoy on ghetto affairs and Presidential Advisor on Kampala Affairs respectively.
Uhuru, claims that the national party chairman has ignored existing party structures while appointing representatives and distributing funds in the city.
“They have gone purposely because of Bobi Wine, the president of Ghetto in Kamwokya. But me I am the chairman of Ghetto. He would have used me. I have sacrificed my life, time and money to ensure the NRM party succeeds in Kampala,” Uhuru told a local news outlet on Monday.
“I am totally demotivated. My heart is wounded and my effort and courage is gone. So let me concentrate on my other businesses,” he added.
Last month, the President appointed Buchaman and Kusasira to help him popularize the NRM ideology in Kampala.
Buchaman is a former close associate to musician turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
His appointment was viewed as an attempt by the Head of State to win over the minds of ghetto people, who are supporters of the People Power movement leader.
Buchaman revealed – of his appointment – that he was ready to fulfill the responsibility accorded to him but one thing he will not do is to report to the President.
“Yes I was given a responsibility but as a leader I will not report to President Museveni and I will not write any report regarding my work because I’m my own boss.”
