Police in Kigezi is investigating circumstances under which an employee at MTN Uganda-Kabale branch was found dead in Rukungiri after missing for two days.
Ambrose Asiimwe, 27 was the Director of Sales for Greater Kabale.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson said the deceased was reported missing at Kabale Police station on Tuesday October 22, 2019.
Mate added that Asiimwe’s body was seen by young children from school at around 7pm, having been rolled on a steep side of the road in the trees at Kayanja cell, along Kisizi- Nyakishenyi road in Rukungiri District.
The deceased is a resident of Kinyu cell, Butobere, Central division, Kabale municipality.
Maate also revealed that Asiimwe’s body had bruises.
“Immediately police visited the scene and his body had a lot of bruises with a swollen head, it was taken to Rwakabengo health centre III mortuary for postmortem.”
According to Asiimwe’s workmates, the deceased was supposed to distribute money to mobile money agents as his daily activity and had about Shs10 million both in cash and on phone which he had withdrawn from Dfcu bank.
The case has been filed at Kabale Central Police station under file number SD 87/22/10/19 and Kisizi police station under file number SD 13/22/10/19.
