Rajiv Ruparelia is the talk of the town in the motorsport circles. Don’t even argue lest you be branded a joker or novice or both.
Rajiv of the famous RR team has fans stretching from children to youthful brigades who admire his resilience and driving tactics that have made him a darling of the motor race.
Since he started, Rajiv has exhibited traits of a fearless driver and a genius on wheels through putting up electrifying performances in his Volkswagen Polo proto car that is so flexible when making corners.
As we speak, RR emerged top during the recent Kabalega Rally in Hoima where he was electrifyingly fast that he posted 1:09:37 seconds compared to his rival Peter Businge at 1:31:16. The feat meant he qualifies for the National Rally Championship.
CAMP FIRE
Rajiv has mastered the art of boosting morale of his team. His entourage of mechanics, therapists, advisors, chefs and others all stay in one camp where everything is provided free from breakfast, lunch and super coupled with a cocktail of all tribes of drinks just to keep his team in celebratory mood.
At the camp, one of the most critical general rule is observing cleanliness. The environmentally conscious Rajiv insists to friends and fans that there is zero dumping of rubbish at the camp. Everything is put in order and rubbish is dumped at common collection centre. This is a very rare principle at the motor sport where spectators are used to throwing rubbish wherever they wish.
Discipline has given the RR team a touch of organization and no wonder, Rajiv is a gift to the motorsport fraternity not only in terms of creating the spirit of competition but also soon the sport in Uganda will be talked about in international circles.
