The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has said the name of George William Eronda was deleted from Namilyango College so he cannot sit his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations at the Mukono- based boys only secondary school.
Eronda, who was expelled from the school, today Thursday October 17, 2019 missed writing his exams for a fourth day running despite a Mukono High Court order compelling the school to allow the 18-year-old sit for the exams which started on Monday, October 14, 2019.
Eronda was last week expelled by the school for allegedly beating up a fellow student during a school trip. He then rushed to Mukono High Court for redress.
However, according to UNEB Executive Secretary Dan N. Odongo, the expelled student is not supposed to sit his exams at Namilyango College because his name was deleted from the school UNEB centre and his results cannot be released or traced from the centre.
“UNEB flagged this candidate, among others, who are appearing on two different centres. Namilyango College noticed the flag on their registration portal and on July 26, 2019 UNEB received a notification from Namilyango College that Eronda George was no longer their student ; and requested us to transfer him to his new centre. A copy of the letter is attached as annexture ‘A’,” said Odongo in an October 15, 2019 letter addressed to Eronda’s lawyers M/s Lex Uganda Advocates & Solicitors.
“Upon receipt of the notice, UNEB accordingly deleted him from the Namilyango record , and left him under his new centre Buddo S.S where he had been registered as well. Eronda George William is therefore captured under the Buddo S.S register.”
