The Minister of State for Planning David Bahati has called upon teachers to adopt practical methods of teaching.
He said this will enable students have adequate practical knowledge to help them fit into the job market immediately after graduation.
This was contained in a speech that was read by the Kabale woman Member of Parliament Catherine Ndamira Atwakire during world teacher’s day celebrations for Kabale district held at Kabale primary school in Kabale municipality. This year’s celebrations were held under the theme “Young Teachers: The Future of a Profession”.
Minister Bahati who is also the Ndorwa West Member of Parliament explained that the traditional way of learning where emphasis is placed on memorizing facts with little attention to getting students to understand the subjects through practical learning, should be critically examined.
He also called on teachers to constantly upgrade to enable them teach well with the introduction of new educational reform which is based on Science and Technology.
