President Yoweri Museveni has appointed the Inspector General of Government (IGG) Irene Mulyagonja Court of Appeal judge.
Also appointed to the court of appeal are; Monica Kalyegira and Kibeedi Muzamiru.
Museveni also appointed 12 judges to the High Court, who include Mugabo Vincent Emmy, Busingye Immaculate, Muwata Isaac, Byaruhanga Jesse Rugyema, Serunkuma Isah, Abinyo Susan, Katamba Victoria Nakintu, Odoki Phillip, Esther Nambayo, Boniface Wamala, Jane Okuo, and Jeanne Rwakakoko.
The President has since forwarded the 15 names to Parliament for vetting as one of the constitutional requirements before they take oath and commence work officially.
Early this year, Mulyagonja joined 24 other candidates to apply for the three vacant positions for justices of the Court of Appeal/Constitutional Court.
She is currently serving her second and final term as the ombudsman after her appointment in April 2012. Prior she served as High Court Judge.
She has served for seven years and she replaced Raphael Baku who stepped in as acting Inspector General of Government after the Justice Faith Mwondha refused to appear before Members of Parliament for vetting and thereafter she resigned and reverted back to the judiciary for redeployment.
