Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been awarded a certificate in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) security standards at Entebbe Airport.
In 2017, ICAO embarked on continuous survey and monitoring approach in Universal Security Audit Programme at the Airport and all activities under the governance of CAA.
According to ICAO results, Uganda scored over 81.8 per cent which is above the global average percentage of 73 per cent.
The certificate was received by Minister of State (Transport) Aggrey Bagiire, CAA’s board chairman Eng Edward Mike Ndawula and Director General David Kakuba as well as Nakifuma county MP Robert Kafeero Ssekitoreko during the 40th Assembly of the ICAO in Montreal Canada.
While handing over the certificate ICAO Council president Dr Olumuiywa Benard Aliu said Uganda’s performance is highly ranked allover.
“I am pleased to inform you that in recognition of your State’s progress in resolving aviation security oversight deficiencies and improving the Effective Implementation of applicable ICOA Standards and recommended practices (SARPS), your state has been selected to receive an ICAO Council President Certificate in Aviation industry. The eligibility criteria used for this recognition are objective and transparent and are based on the results of the ICAO Universal Security Audit Programme,” he said.
