Fr. Gaetano Batanyenda, chairman of Kick Corruption out of Uganda, a local NGO advocacy has been kicked out of his office after failing to clear rent arrears.
The Parish Priest for Kitanga Parish in Kabale Diocese who is a strong critic of President Yoweri Museveni has always accused the NRM government of failing to bring the corrupt to justice.
In an eviction notice dated September 17, 2019, Fr Gaetano’s landlord Jimmy Kin Rwomushana said he was temporally closing his house until the issue of rent is cleared.
“I am forced to do this because when I ring you and even send you messages you don’t respond,” said Rwomushana in a notice copied to the LCI Kiri Jime Cell in Kabale District.
Rwomushana further stated that he demands the priest rent for seven months amounting to Shs4,800,000.
“Hoping for your co-operation.”
