The Mayor of Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka is threatening a sit down strike against what he called ‘incompetence and inconsistent poor planning of the Municipality’.
Kafureeka stressed that such incompetence has cost the municipality a lot, causing it to lag behind other upcoming towns across the country and this should not be tolerated.
He wonders how the Ntungamo Municipality physical planner Muhwezi Stephen has directed town dwellers and plot owners to construct only residential houses but not commercial houses along Kanuuma Road, Kyamate Hill Ntungamo Municipality.
He was addressing a congregation during the thanksgiving and baptism of Asimire Hope Turyahikayo’s children at Mpaama Church of Uganda.
He noted that he will not hesitate to mobilize the plot owners to start constructing even without structural plans from Municipality.
When contacted, Ntungamo Municipality Town clerk Tandeka Festo said they are implementing a 10-year Ntungamo Municipality physical development plan and there was a need to follow a structural development plan in order to develop the town.
Tandeka asked the politicians to stop politicizing the development citing areas of Kololo, Naguru and Muyenga which were once residential areas but now are mixed up noting that they shall also do the same consonant with the plan.
Recently Ntungamo municipality was given Shs14 billion for the upgrading of roads under phase two of the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) programme funded by World Bank.
