Tamale Mirundi, an unapologetic political analyst has said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporter who was nailed with six inch nails is a thief who wants to defraud President Yoweri Museveni.
Mirundi said the incident that saw a one Baker Kasumba nailed, was stage managed by some greedy people in the ruling party who want to steal money from the President.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Media issues made the allegations on Tuesday morning while appearing on nbs TV’s ‘One on One with Tamale Mirundi’ show.
“They want to steal Museveni, Uganda has not yet reached that extent of intolerance, it was stage managed. Don’t tell me about the nails, why didn’t they nail in the bone?” Mirundi wondered.
“What makes this man so special to be targeted? There are some people who are targeting to steal Museveni but what these people are forgetting is that they are scaring away people from putting on the yellow caps.”
Mirundi further revealed that if the incident was true, Kasumba would be dead by now.
“If it was true, that man would have been nailed and killed since the culprits could not risk leaving evidence behind.
Last Friday, the NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba visited Kasumba at Mulago Hospital.
Kasumba, 21, a resident of Avis Kavulu in Kawempe Division was last Wednesday intercepted by two unidentified men who hit him on the head and later nailed his hands for allegedly supporting National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Museveni.
In a statement issued by police the following day, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said, “This was a well planned and organized attack. The attackers seem to have trailed him all the way from his work place. We shall not accept this kind of political intimidation and whoever is using it should desist from it.”
During her visit, Lumumba condemned the erroneous act against Kasumba and called on security agencies to jointly speed up the investigations and bring the suspects to book.
She also called on Ugandans to desist from torture and any other cruel, inhuman or degrading acts against humanity.
