Nicholas Hope Mao, son to Democratic Party (DP) President has been found. Nicholas was reported missing after he left their home in Ntinda in the company of a friend on Monday evening and he never returned.
Posting on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Mao said the friend he went with is unknown to them.
“His mother and I are contacting relatives and friends to find out where he could be. We have also contacted his other known friends and their family members but they haven’t seen him. His friends at Watoto Church North where he plays guitar in the church band also said they haven’t seen him or heard from him,” the veteran politician stated.
“Nico, 19, successfully completed his A Levels at Vienna College in July and is on vacation. Unfortunately, his phone is off. I am very grateful to all those who have called and offered help in finding Nico. We are saddened that we cannot reach Nico but we continue to fervently pray that Nico will return home safely,” he added.
Now, the good news is, Nicholas has been found.
According to Mao, his son was found at his cousin’s place where he needed sometime alone to reflect.
Mao wrote on his social media on Thursday morning:
Hallelujah! The hours of frantic search (some of which were blind alleys) have paid off. We have found Nico! I give the highest form of praise one can give the Living God. Nico is well. The time was 55 minutes past midnight. We found him asleep. His guitar leaning on the wall. His host (a cousin) said he wanted some time alone to reflect. I let him sleep. No fuss. There will be time to talk. I wrote him a letter which he will read when he wakes up. His cousin said he had written a note he wanted dropped at home to let us know that he was fine. But alas the heavy downpour frustrated his plans.
How I wish I could embrace all those whose outpourings of prayer, love and encouragement kept me from imagining and believing the worst. Your calls and messages kept our spirits high. Concerned people from all walks of life in Uganda and abroad offered support. I especially thank our friends for keeping us from the abyss of despair. Indeed friends are relatives you choose. We may not be related by blood but we are related by love. May God bless you all abundantly.
