The Ntungamo District Education Officer Arigye Odo has challenged all students pursuing teaching as a profession to exhibit a positive attitude towards Education since it is the only one that will sharpen and change the World.
Mr Arigye noted that when one joins teaching with poor mindset or being forced, it will not only affect him/her but also mislead the Uganda children.
He asked students to love and enroll for teaching courses as the only way to change the society from illiterate to literate.
Mr Arigye made remarks over the weekend while presiding over the celebrations of achievement and victory of Kiyoora Primary Teachers College in Ruhaama county Ntungamo District.
Kiyoora Primary Teachers College merged the first among nine Primary teachers colleges in the just concluded Music Dance and Drama competitions (MDD) in Southern Region 2019 held at Bishop Stuart Core PTC Kibingo.
He commended the principal Lay Canon Kankunda Mable Katongore and college community for excelling in both academics and MDD which has enabled Ntungamo District to shine at National level.
Mr Arigye advised students to be polite, disciplined, time managers and smart because they are the ones to inspire pupils they are teaching.
The principal Kiyoora Primary Teachers College Lay Canon Kankunda Mable Katongore attributed the good performance to both academics and MDD competition to the fear of God and their vision of producing compete and ethical teachers internationally.
Lay Canon Kankunda Mable thanked the music tutors, staff and students for the determination and zeal that enabled the college to keep performing well a year after year.
She tasked other PTC’s to prioritize MDD saying that it will help students to be creative and innovative for additional skills thus earning a living in future other than concentrating on academics only
She also unveiled a brand new college Van Omni bus Reg. UBF 685C and trophies.
Kiyoora PTC will represent the Southern Region to the National level MDD competition set to be held on 25th-28th August 2019 at National Theatre Kampala.
The Best performing students and Houses were awarded certificates as follows.
Mandela was 1st, followed by Kennedy, Nkrumah and Livingstone in 4th position.
Present were, Tugume Frank Muriisa chief Nyakyera Sub County and students entertained the guests.
