The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola has ordered Assistant Inspector General of Police Godfrey Bangirana to handover office following the expiry of his contract.
Bangirana whose contract expired on July 16, 2019 is the Police Director for Engineering and Logistics.
According to a letter dated July 19, 2019, the IGP asked Bangirana to hand over the office to Senior Commissioner of Police Richard Edyegu, not later than today, as he awaits a decision on his appointment.
His fate now lies in a decision to be taken by the Police Authority chaired by the Internal Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo.
“It is on record that you applied to the Secretary to the Police Authority for consideration for renewal of your contract which has not been done. While we wait for this to happen, it is proper you handover office to SCP Richard Edyegu,” Ochola said.
“Your continued stay in office is bound to raise several queries by the Head, Public Service.”
Bangirana was recently probed by Inspector General of Government (IGG) after a whistleblower questioned the amount of money spent on the construction of Nateete Police Station. He was also questioned for inflating the budget for the construction of police housing units in 2017.
