President Yoweri Museveni has remeinded Ugandans that it is the National Resistance Army (NRM) that has guaranteed sustained peace and stability for Uganda, following a ‘well-documented tumultuous past.’
The President who was meeting over 1,000 leaders from Bugisu sub-region on Tuesday, also added that it is ‘this peace has enabled the country undertake lots of development projects.’
“From roads to schools, to dams, hospitals, to name but a few. In Bugisu now, we are building the road from Mbale to Lwakhakha border, which should open immense cross-border opportunities,” the President, who is on a Wealth Creation Sensitization Campaign in Mbale Town, said.
The President has already spread the Wealth Creation gospel to Tooro, West Nile, Acholi, Bunyoro and Lango and Karamoja sub-regions, with three messages of – peace, development and wealth.
“Also, the road from Nabumali to Kachonga-Butaleja-Namutumba will be tarmacked, so will the Namagumba-Budadiri one. The Tororo-Mbale-Soroti-Dokolo-Lira-Kona Kamdini highway is to be re-done. All this is development.”
However, he said, development must be accompanied with wealth for the family. There are four key ways of creating wealth; commercial agriculture, industries, services and through ICT. Leaders at every level must help their people discover which area to engage in.
The President then backed a request by the people of Mbale that the town is included in the first batch of proposed new cities.
“You cannot talk of new cities in Uganda and omit Mbale and Masaka. I thank you,” he said.
On Wednesday, the President will address a rally at Bukhalu Sub-county in Bulambuli District before doing a radio programme at Mbale State Lodge.
