Political activist Andrew Karamagi has expressed shock at some of the ministers appointed by President Museveni.
This, after Evelyn Anite, the State Minister for Finance for Investment and Privatisation failed to hold a proper debate in regards to the impending fresh audit on Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL) during a radio show, Spectrum on Wednesday.
Instead, Anite, resorted to quarreling and ‘abusing’, the Spectrum show host Edmund Kizito, Karamagi as well as listeners of Radio One.
The said show happened on Wednesday.
When asked by Karamagi what she thought her job as junior minister for Finance for Investment and Privatisation was, “Anite quarreled and insulted me for 40 minutes non-stop! When he tried to intervene, Edmund Kizito, the savant and graceful moderator, wasn’t spared either,” Karamagi wrote on his facebook wall.
The minister also reportedly told the moderator to never pair her with ‘people who do not respect her’.
Karamagi’s full write-up
A few minutes into the discussion, I realized that there was no way to debate logically with Evelyne Anite on Radio One’s Spectrum talk show so I decided to trick her into getting angry but I got more than I had asked for.
I asked her to tell the listeners what her understanding of her job description (State Minister for Finance for Investment and Privatisation) is.
Anite took the bait—she quarreled and insulted me for 40 minutes non-stop! When he tried to intervene, Edmund Kizito, the savant and graceful moderator, wasn’t spared either.
After a delayed commercial break, the phone lines were opened and she insulted the callers as well.
A thin film of sweat had formed on her furrowed brow and her nostrils were flaring with rage…with five minutes left to make our concluding remarks, she warned the Moderator, on top of her voice, never to pair her with someone like me who has no respect for her.
Eh, it was a real village quarrel at the well.
Seeing no need to use the researched notes I had prepared for that talk show, I poked her once more in my closing remarks by asking the listeners to be the judge of who shouldn’t have been invited to Radio One the in the first place.
Fellow Ugandans, as we briefly pause on the Bank of Uganda episode and watch the trailer of Sex and the City in Museveni’s Kingdom—the Uganda Telecom Saga, that is the person who is in charge of our country’s Investment portfolio!
