Former government employees in Mubende district have received 12 cows under the Luwero-Rwenzori Development programme.
The 12 cows are valued at Shs144,000,000.
While presiding over their give-away at an event that took place at Kibalinga Sub County headquarters, the district chairperson, Francis Kibuuka Amooti said it was aimed at improving the incomes of district ex-officials, and asked them to be good ambassadors of the NRM government.
The beneficiaries have also been assured of agricultural extension workers – the only mandated veterinary officials to treat these animals.
According to the district veterinary Officer, Dr James Mukasa Ssematimba, the quality is to the desired standard as per the the Luwero-Rwenzori development project.
“It is now up to the beneficiaries to take good care of them,” he said.
The programme was launched in 2010, the government to help improve the livelihood of communities affected by the 1981-1986 NRA guerrilla war and the 1996-2003 Allied Democratic Forces rebel insurgency.
