The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of police has denied Andrew Mukasa, commonly known as Bajjo, bail.
The events promoter was arrested on Saturday by security operatives from the Presidential Police Guard Unit while addressing a press conference in Centenary Park, Kampala.
On Monday he was taken in Kireka at SIU headquarters for interrogation.
According to Police spokesman Fred Enanga, Bajjo was arrested because of the video clip that showed him inciting violence.
“Bajjo was arrested because of the video clip he posted on social media threatening to overthrow the government and alleging that Army and Police were on his side which was not true. In this video, Bajjo tells the public that he was very sober. This is a country that is run by laws, what I’m sure of Bajjo knew that he was breaking laws to incite the public and threatening the person of the President,” Enanga explained.
According to Kampala City Lord Mayor Eria Lukwago, Bajjo will be produced in court for hearing of bail application.
“Been at SIU Kireka for the rescue of comrade Andrew Mukasa t/a Bajjo Eventz Clear Process who was kidnapped over the weekend. They (police) accordingly charged him with incitement to violence and cybercrime under the Computer Misuse Act. He’s been denied a police bond and will hopefully be produced in court tomorrow, where a bail application shall be made. Abbey Musinguzi was briefly arrested at the said police facility but we managed to secure his release,” said Lukwago in his Facebook post on Monday.
