Apac District chairperson Bob Okae has been arrested for failing to explain how Shs2billion landed on his personal account.
On Average, Okae received about Shs5 million every day on his personal account between 2017 and 2018.
Okae was arrested by Parliamentary police on Tuesday during an appearance by Apac district officials before the Local Government Accounts committee chaired by Judith Franca Akello.
The officials tried, unsuccessfully, to answer queries raised in the Auditor General report for the financial year 2017/2018.
The legislators also discovered that Okae could not account for the huge sums of money on his personal account, claiming it was for monitoring government programmes in the district.
He argued that part of the money was given to his executive committee members for official duties, according to an online publication, Nile Post.
Members however were not persuaded and they ordered the Parliamentary police to arrest the officials as investigations into the matter continue.
