Abdallah Kitatta has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
This after the General Court Martial sitting in Makindye found the former Boda Boda 2010 patron guilty of unlawful possession of an SMG rifle and a pistol without a valid firearm licence and unlawful possession of 30 and 20 rounds of ammunition for SMG rifle and pistol.
He was convicted together with his bodyguard Sowali Ngobi.
The formerly untouchable Kitata will serve both sentences co-currently, the court ruled.
He had already served 16 months on remand after he was arrested in January 2018.
On Monday, the seven-member Court chaired by Gen Andrew Gutti unanimously ruled that evidence from the four prosecution witnesses was satisfactory enough to prove the charges against the duo.
According to Gen. Andrew Gutti, crimes committed by people holding fire arms illegally are rampant
