Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on Friday took her first public engagement since her return from sick leave in Nairobi.
Last month, Kadaga was admitted for fatigue at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
On Friday, Kadaga made her first public appearance to launch the website for the upcoming 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.
She thanked God who enabled her to come back in time and be part of the big occasion of launching the website.
“We are proud to host this conference. They were last here in 1967, they were fewer, Parliament was smaller and even Uganda’s population was small so we are happy to have this chance again.,” said Kadaga.
She added that Uganda hosting this conference is part of Parliamentary diplomacy. “The launched web site its domain is www.cpc2019.org, and will facilitate interactions while the conference is going on,” she added.
According to the parliament, since Uganda is a commonwealth country, delegates will get their VISAs on arrival and all the invited delegates have been asked to check in early to avoid delays and to have a chance of touring other places in Uganda.
The conference is to commence on 22nd and end on 29th September under the theme of Adaption, Engagement and Revolution Parliaments in rapidly changing Common Wealth countries.
