Sharif Kakooza who had gone to deposit Shs10 million on his account in dfcu Bank Mbarara Branch was on Wednesday robbed at gunpoint by two armed thugs.
Speaking to a local TV station after the incident, Kakooza said while in a queue, armed men with pistols approached him and put him on gunpoint and instructed him not to say anything but to just walk out of the bank or risk being shot.
On moving out of the bank, he was put into a waiting premio and was driven on a break neck speed up to Booma in the outskirts of Mbarara municipality where he was dumped after taking his money.
Kakooza rushed to Mbarara central police station and reported a case of armed robbery.
Mbarara police says they went to dfcu bank but the bank manager declined to handover the CCTV footage to police for reviewing to help in identifying the assailants.
The manager told police officers that by the time of the robbery, the CCTV cameras were not working.
