Kampala Lord Mayor hopeful Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone is currently ‘planting seeds for the future’, as he sets to carry out a community cleaning campaign (Bulungi bwansi) in Kawempe division.
The Leone Island boss announced that this Saturday, April 13, 2019, he will lead his team in a community cleaning and sensitization campaign that will start in Kawempe market and its surrounding areas.
A Kawempe product, the ‘Mateeka’ singer decided hopes to take ‘Bulungi bwansi’ to the other Kampala divisions.
He stated that this cleaning campaign will be concluded with a match between Leone Island fans team and a team from Kawempe, and called upon all residents to engage in this exercise.
Chameleone disclosed his interest of running for the Kampala Mayor Ship seat on Monday, during a presser at his DNA Lounge, Kololo. Then, claimed he had no plans to join politics but the fans lifted his spirits.
“If my fans have chosen, why not? I have been a leader all my life and it won’t be a challenge for me to lead the people of Kampala if they want me to lead them as their Lord Mayor. I am not a politician and I am to do this as a musician because that is what I know best,” Chameleone stated.
Currently he is working on all strategies and campaigns that will keep him in the eyes of people, possibly to encourage them vote for him in the forthcoming 2021 elections, and ‘Bulungi bwansi’ maybe just the beginning.
Other artistes on pressure to win people’s hearts for votes include Geoffrey Lutaaya, Dr. Hilderman, Ronald Mayinja, among others.
