State Minister for ICT and National Guidance Idah Nantaba has said that she will not be reporting to Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) Headquarters in Kibuli until she gets instructions from President Yoweri Museveni.
On Thursday, police had summoned Nantaba to go and record a statement regarding the murder of Ronald Ssembulime.
Ssebulime was put out of action last Sunday at Nagojje village, Mukono District by police officers led by Corporal Edward Ssali after being suspected to be an assailant on a tipoff from the minister.
The deceased was first arrested and handcuffed. After a few minutes of pleading for mercy, Ssali allegedly received ‘orders from above’ ordering him to shoot Ssebulime and that’s how his life was ended.
However, in a letter dated March 29, 2019, Nantaba told the CID Director that she is unable to report in person due to a directive from President Museveni who told her to confine within her premises until he instructs otherwise.
“In such circumstances, I am constrained to travel to Kibuli CID Headquarters as you requested. But you may in the meantime consider visiting my premises to record the required statement,”she said.
