Five children belonging to Joseph Tumwebaze, a prominent businessman in Kyenjonjo have been murdered.
The incident took place on Thursday night when yet to be identified assailants attacked Tumwebaze’s home at Kahompe village, Bufunjo subcountry.
The victims are Barbra Atuhairwe 7, Oscar Alinganiza, 4, Linet Ayinebyona 3, Devis Tulinomugisha 2, and one-month-old Abwooli .
According to Rwenzori West Regional Spokesperson ASP Lydia Tumushabe, the unknown thugs broke the door glasses and gained access to Tumwebaze’s house, locked a one Gerald Akampulira (relative) into his room and they entered in the businessman’s room where they found his wife, and they asked for the whereabouts of the husband and money.
“Tumwebaze was not in the house he had gone to Kasese. They cut and killed the children, beat up the wife then they took and dumped her in Kawompo River from where she was rescued and currently undergoing treatment,” she said.
“The district CID officer and team have visited the crime scene and our regional surgeon is going to conduct a postmortem.”
