Kedurensi Nduhukire,11 has lost hopes of going back to school after her mother delivered triplets.
Nduhukire, a primary six pupil of Rukore Two Primary school in Karengyeri parish, Muko Sub-county, Rubanda district said she didn’t study for the whole of last term because her mom was pregnant and weak.
“I used to help mom with work. She was very weak. I used to weed crops, harvest sorghum, fetch water and firewood while others were in school. Now that she has delivered triplets, I won’t go to school. I will instead help her to raise them,” Nduhukire told Watchdog Uganda on Saturday.
And at the tender age of 11, her education is most likely to end here.
Family needs help to raise the triplets since Justus Turyamureba and Prisca Niwagaba, the parents are financially weak to raise the new members of the family.
Niwagaba, 37, told Watchdog Uganda that they did not have even have money to transport them from Rubanda to Kabale for safe delivery. They hail from Murugarambiro village, Karengyeri parish, Muko Sub-county Rubanda District.
Transport fees from Rubanda to Kabale is just Shs6000 per person.

Delivering triplets is something rare in the community and Niwagaba’s family in this regard, would need to be financially stable.
The family comprises nine children who all need support.
