The Management of Green Hill Academy Schools has petitioned Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) over its 2018 not so pleasing Primary Leaving Examinations results.
Green Hill Academy is one of the renowned top performers in the country and over the years, it has been among the best 10 schools as far as PLE is concerned.
But this time round it has been a different story; after failing to even make it to the top 100 schools in the exam results that were released on Thursday.
Since then parents of the prestigious school have been complaining and accusing UNEB of under marking their kids.
Meanwhile, seasoned schools have for the past three years performed below expectations.
During a Saturday Morning show on a local radio station, Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze claimed that there are different marking schemes for candidates in first class schools and those in Universal Primary Schools. Apparently, the children in schools like Kampala Parents need to score more than 90 per cent to score a distinction one, while their colleagues especially in UPE schools, score D1s with just 75 per cent.
And this could probably be the sole reason why top schools are falling off the ladder.

In a letter to parents, the Green Hill Academy schools management said they have already secured an appointment with UNEB officials to discuss last year’s PLE results.
“We believe this dialogue will allow us to present your feedback about the results; unearth the knowledge gaps we as a school need to pay close attention to as well as; get information about the re-marking process.” The management said.
Adding, “Currently, we are having intense discussions at all levels to draw improved strategies. Once we have completed this process, our parents beginning with those of the current candidate class rolling downwards will be invited for a meeting where we can further discuss the new strategies drawn.”
The school also informed parents that they are currently engaging different Secondary Schools’ Heads about the validity of their pupils’ performance so that they can be considered during the 2019 intake.
