A gigantic crocodile has eaten alive a pregnant woman.

Susan Akullo, a mother of two was eight months pregnant when death befell her on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Dolwe Island in Namayingo District, Eastern Uganda.

According to residents, Akullo and other women had gone to fetch water near the shores of Lake Victoria when the crocodile attacked her.

“She tried to fight for her dear life but the crocodile was too strong. Her associates ran the moment it attacked her,” one of the residents revealed.

“They ran wailing for help.”

In a quick response, residents came in to save her but it was too late. They only saved a hand which they buried earlier on Thursday.

Majid Dhikosooka, Namayingo Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) said the area has very many crocodiles and that a good number of residents have lost lives due to their attacks.

He called upon Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to come and rescue them from the dangerous wild animals.

“UWA should come and hunt for these animals. They are not supposed to live among people because they are too dangerous.”  Said Dhikosooka.
