The office of the Inspectorate of Government on Wednesday arrested the headmaster of Mbarara High school, Benon Twinomujuni and the bursar, Michael Namara for allegedly swindling over Shs200 million.
The money, meant for the school services was siphoned between June 2017 and February 2018.
According the IGG’ communication officer Ali Munira, the duo were arrested after the tip off from the whistleblower.
On Thursday, Twinomujuni and Namara appeared before the anti-corruption court in Kampala to answer charges involving embezzlement of government funds and misuse of office which were preferred against them.
Prosecution alleges that the duo approved the money without supporting documents.
They were granted a cash bail of Shs10,000,000.
