Police in Kabale District is investigating circumstances under which a 48-year-old man hanged himself.
The deceased, Byamukama Michael was a resident of Ahinyonyi cell, Katokye parish Kyanamira Sub-county Kabale District. He committed suicide on Saturday at around 4.00pm from his house.
It’s alleged that he sent his 10-year-old son to the shop at the nearby trading centre. On coming back, he found the door locked from inside and instead went and slept at the aunt’s place in the neighborhood.
On Sunday morning when he (son) went back the door was still locked, became suspicious and reported the anomaly to a neighbour who then broke the door and found Byamukama hanging dead on a rope in the sitting room of his double roomed house.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police spokesperson told Watchdog Uganda that Police was notified as soon as possible and visited the scene and inquiries were initiated to establish the cause of death.
According to Maate, the deceased divorced his wife recently. She left with the two younger children.
This case has been registered at Kabale central police station under file number SD 22/13/01/19.
