The General Court Martial has on Monday said Abdallah Kitatta, the former patron of Boda Boda 2010 has a case to answer together with nine of his co accused.
In his ruling, the army court Chairman Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti revealed prosecution’s evidence proved that there was a prema facie case and that the accused have to defend themselves over the charges.
“Abdallah Kitatta,Ngobi Sowali and Ibrahim Ssekagya were found in the same vehicle UAK 135B in which an SMG rifle was found and they tried to run away. They have a case to answer,” said Lt.Gen. Gutti as quoted by nilepost.co.ug.
The court also ruled that Kitatta and nine other boda boda 2010 members had to answer for the military hardware including uniforms and caps found at the group’s offices in Wakaliga.
January 7, 2019 has been set as the date for the accused to start defending themselves.
Prosecution states that on January 21 this year at Vine Hotel at Wakaliga, Nateete in Rubaga Division Kampala District, Kitatta and the co-accused persons were found in possession of two guns SMG, three pistols and bullets without holding a valid firearms certificate and military uniforms which are a monopoly of the defence forces.
The military equipment includes two pistols, SMG rifle and 50 rounds of ammunition for the firearms.
Kitatta separately faces five counts of being in unlawful possession of an SMG gun, three pistols and 50 rounds of live ammunition.
