The chairperson for the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association (UWOPA) also has confirmed a USD40 million Shs150bn grant to fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the country.
Bigira Norah, also the Woman Member of Parliament for Buliisa made the announcement at media briefing in Kampala.
She however, advised all those responsible for the grant to make sure that all sexes are catered for.
“We have mostly been concentrating on the girl child as the mostly affected party in GBV. This has made us forget that even the boys go through the same problems,” she said.
Mary Auma, the Gender officer for Lamwo district advised the government to channel the said money through channels like actors like the police officers, judiciary who shall help in its direct implementation and utilization.
She also advised for home visits as a way of improving people’s attitude towards GBV.
