The owner of the fatal boat that capsized near Mutima beach in Mpata sub county in Mukono district, is among the dead, NBS television reporter Samson Kasumba has said. The boat owner is a businessman known as Templar Bisase. Templar’s boat was called Palm-K, named after his Palm-K beach in Ggaba.
Kasumba who is reporting from the scene of the rescue operation told NBs on Sunday morning that a man known as Templar who owned the boat which set off from Port Bell, in Kampala, also died. His wife’s body had also been retrieved yesterday.
Templar’s boat has been out of service for time, and reported faulty, according Kampala party animals who regularly go for boat cruises. This was the first time it was leaving the dock after several months.
The fully packed boat with over 100 people on board capsized on Saturday. The number of the dead is not yet known,but so far at least 26 bodies have been capsized.
