Singer Irene Namubiru is among the few lucky people who survived yesterday’s Lake Victoria boat cruise tragedy that took place in Mpatta Sub-County in Mukono District on Lake Victoria.
The KPalm boat was headed to KPalm resort in Mukono when the incident struck.
Posting on her Facebook Page, the singer revealed that she is currently receiving medical treatment though still traumatized.
She wrote, “I would like to thank all of you who have reached out to me, Thank you for the Thoughts, Concern, Care and Beautiful messages! By GOD’S GRACE I am still Alive ,Safe, and getting medical attention but still so traumatised. My deepest thoughts to our comrades who didn’t make it and condolences to the bereaved families. What can I say? The DEVIL and his ACCOMPLICES are not winning. GOD IS JUST NOT DONE WITH ME YET, but he is for sure trying to make me understand something. #NSIIMYE ,”
Meanwhile, the death toll is at 23 and still counting.
While appearing on NBS TV on Sunday morning, Deputy Army spokesperson Lt. Deo Akiiki revealed that over 100 people were on board when the tragedy took place.
He said though the rescue mission is still ongoing, they don’t expect any more survivors.
