Forum for Democratic Change has changed it’s goal post and apologised for a tweet posted on Friday and based on tribal hatred.
On Friday FDC posted:
“A man (Mwesigwa Rukutana, Deputy Attorney General of #Uganda) grazing his cattle the Karamoja style in Ankole. Will UPDF that disarmed Karamojongs move to disarm Banyankore who graze cattle with guns.?”
The post went viral, drawing a lot of public attention, with replies blaming Rukutuna.
Morrison Rwakakamba tweeted saying, “Clearly we need a National Dialogue!!. We used to graze with sticks”
However, FDC has come out to defend it’s self and tweeted an apology disclaiming its self from tribalism.
“As apolitical party, we work daily towards uniting Ugandans as one people. The tweet below did fall below the values and the principles we hold as party we apologize sincerely for the use of Banyankole people as a whole and to all Ugandans.”
However, several tweets blamed the idea of FDC apologising like.
“No need to apologize is he the one or not. Who else in Uganda besides we Banyankole graze our animals with guns or posses gun like us? Trying doing house search for guns in western Uganda…..”
FDC did not pull down the tweet.
