Security personnel in Kabale on Wednesday held a meeting with transport operators in the district ahead of the Christmas festive season.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region spokesperson and Andrew Muyambi, the officer in charge of traffic police in Kabale were among the security officers who attended the meeting.
Transport operators were called to obey traffic rules and regulations, avoid crime ahead of Christmas and new year celebrations if they were to enjoy the festive season.

Maate said in a statement on Wednesday that Police and other security organisations exist to protect lives and property of Ugandans and called on everyone to cooperate with them.
Crime and irresponsibility acts tend to rise during festive seasons mostly Christmas and on new years day celebrations in urban areas of the country.
He advised cyclists to report to security personnel any information that could disturb the peace of Ugandans ahead of festive season. He further advised them to obey law and order.
Obey traffic rules and regulations
Andrew Muyambi, the police officer in charge of traffic in Kabale advised transport operators to respect all police checkpoints, saying they are meant to protect lives of people.
“Always check your vehicle’s and motorcycle’s conditions for safety before driving, put on safety belts when driving , drive with driving permits and above all avoid excess passengers ” Muyambi added.
He called on drivers without permits to get the as soon as possible lest the are arrested and charged in courts of law.
