‘Always chase your dream no matter the cost it takes,’ they say. And for Ugandan kickboxer Umar ‘The Pain’ Semata, it seems closer than ever to fight in the USA. The pint sized, Thailand-based fighter recorded another win beating up on Thailand’s Santon Canison by 58-50 points on Thursday night in the Kunlun Combat League in China.
Canison who had fought 280 times winning 50 of those by knockout clearly looked the underdog going into this fight against Semata whose experience counted with a record of 45 wins from 78 fights.
Semata’s win means he qualifies for the K-1 championship fight with a winning prize of $100,000 (Shs380m) due in April 2019 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas USA.
Last month, Semata beat Moses Golola on points in a non-title kickboxing contest that brought an end to a debate that has stood for over a decade on who is the best between the two Ugandan professional kickboxers.
