A former presidential candidate has announced that he has officially joined ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
According to New Vision, Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, a former Makerere University Vice Chancellor made the revelation during a graduation ceremony for Ibanda University on Friday.
He said he was told by God to join NRM as his political party.
“I have been having a close discussion with my God for the last two years and we have agreed together that I should join NRM as my political party,” said Byaramureeba.
During the 2016 presidential elections, Baryamureeba lashed out at President Yoweri Museveni for failing to leave power.
“After over 30 years of drugged and fitful sleep, Uganda needs strong, creative and transformative leadership at State House. President Museveni’s generation, together with all his bush-war comrades have had an opportunity to lead Uganda for the last 30 years and now is time for the current generation to lead our country to greatness,” he said.
