Following the cancellation of Kyarenga concert for the second time by the Namboole Stadium Management on request of Uganda’s Football governing body FUFA, a number of Bobi Wine fanatics spearhead a campaign to boycott Uganda Cranes matches until the show is given a green light.
The fans accused FUFA of hobnobbing with government to block the concert.
Kyarenga concert was supposed to take place on November 9 at Namboole Stadium. Earlier, Bobi Wine had planned to hold the show in the same stadium on October 20 before it was cancelled.
However, today the Kyadondo East MP has told his fans to call off the boycott saying the blame of suffocating his concert by government should not be put on Uganda Cranes.
In a Facebook post, Bobi Wine said Uganda Cranes players work so hard to raise the country’s flag high through their talent even when they are insufficiently facilitated.
He wrote;
I have seen some friends act out of anger as a result of the Kyarenga concert cancellation by the Namboole management.
Friends, I dont agree with the trending hashtag #boycottugandacranes. Uganda Cranes is our national team in which we should always take pride and support with all our abilities. These young men, just like most of us work hard to raise our flag high using their talent even when they are insufficiently facilitated. If musical talent is being suffocated, let’s not take all the other talent down the drain. Our national team is the mirror of the best and worst in us as a nation so all they need is Love and understanding, not condemnation. We are all Uganda Cranes and Uganda Cranes is us.#KyarengaNewDateComingSoon
