The Vice Chancellor for Kampala International University(KIU) Dr Mohammed Mpezamihigo has cleared the air on the alleged degree probe by government as stated in the Daily Monitor of 26th September 2018.
Mpezamihigo said that the university has trust in the structures, alumni, infrastructures, laws and regulations among many more, something that gives them confidence that they are doing what is right.
“In order for a student to be admitted at KIU, He or she must fulfill the minimum requirements in order for them to be admitted by the university” Said Mpezamihigo
The VC added that the university has staff that is qualified both national and international.
It is on this note that the VC warned all journalists to be sure of whatever they are reporting in order for them not to spoil the good name that people have sweated building.
“We take time to build this name, just like we spend to maintain it. So if someone comes up to spoil it, I think legal actions must prevail” Said Mpezamihigo
According to Mpezamihigo, a letter was addressed and received by the National Council for Higher Education referring to the published article by the Daily monitor seeking clarification about the said probe.
In his letter to NCHE, Mpezamihigo stated that they are not aware of the said probe that has damaged the good name of the university.
In his response to Mpezamihigo, the Ag. Executive Director for the NCHE, Canon Dr.Alex M Kagume apologized to KIU about the said probe and categorically stated that NCHE did not at any moment state that the degree of KIU were being probed.
The council however regretted any inconveniences that were caused to the university as a result of this publication.
