Police in Rubanda district is investigating circumstances under which a three weeks old baby girl was murdered.
The deceased only identified as Atwebembere is a daughter to Robert Byamukama of Kabisha cell Kyenyi parish Muko subcounty Rubanda district. The deceased is is alleged to have been strangled by the father on ground that she was not her own kid.
It’s alleged that on Thursday while the mother was out of the house, the father stealthily entered and strangled the baby dead.
The mother could not believe her child dying so mysteriously in such a short time when was not sickly.
As they organized burial on Friday morning, the mourners felt concerned because of the continuous threats he(father) would make, they notified the Police which swung into action and took the child to Muko health centre four where it was confirmed that she died of strangulation.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson has confirmed to our reporter that the father is under detention and inquiries underway.
This case has been registered at Rubanda police under file number SD 23/28/09/18.
