A Kampala prominent businessman has advised parents to emphasize vocational training as a way of ensuring that their children are given skills of becoming job creators rather than job seekers.
He was on Friday giving awards to 70 students who graduated in different courses at Kasawo college of business and technical education on their second graduation ceremony.
Mr. Ssimbwa Fred Kaggwa was astonished by the little number of graduands with in this institute and he asked for more students to join the institute through his NGO Ssimbwa Fredrick foundation that provides scholarships and bursaries to different people with in the schools and institutes of their choice.
He advised parents to emphasize vocational training as it provides hands on skills which lead to self employment and seems to be very cheap.
He extended his gratitude to the kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for providing them with the land and the buildings on which this institute sits, and urged the graduands to continue with their studies on different levels apart from the awards they had received.
In a letter from Mengo government representative for Kyaggwe, Ssekiboobo Alex Benjamin Kigongo, delivered by his deputy David Matovu Kyagambiddwa, Ssekiboobo urged the parents to produce more children for the benefit of the monarch’s development.
He went further to thank the parents of the graduands for always paying the school dues in time and described it as a factor that partly paves way for the good performance and success of the children.
Addressing the graduands, the principal David Mwesigwa thanked the them for always adhering to the institute rules and regulations and advised them to maintain the spirit even where they are going to work.
A total of 70 graduands were awarded with certificates and diplomas in different disciplines after completing one to three year courses.
