The Uganda High Commission Kigali had an interactive session with officials from Uganda Tourism board (UTB), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA) who in Rwanda to participated at the Kwita Izina Conservation Exhibition and Kwita Izina ceremony.
In her remarks, H.E Oliver Wonekha thanked the officers from Tourism and private sector for organizing a meeting with the Embassy staff. She promised the team that the mission will do its best to promote not only in tourism but in all other sectors. She encouraged them to always engage the mission in any activity.
The Marketing Manager UTB encouraged members to always be proud to market Uganda because everything in Uganda is Tourism e.g fresh food, diverse cultures, religion, variety of animals, birds and mammal species, natural sites, sports like golf.
He highlighted that Rwanda is the biggest source of tourist to Uganda with over 5000 people crossing annually. He encouraged and pledged to collaborate with the Embassy in marketing Uganda.
He suggested that Embassy should mobilize other African Diplomats and locals in Rwanda to attend the annual Kampala City Carnival which happens every 1st weekend of October, Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo – every February where UTB showcases Uganda to the rest of the World and organizes familiarization trips to Uganda.
