There was excitement throughout Uganda as Arua34 were released including now world famous pop star turned politician Bobi Wine whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu.
It was however the towering presence in Gulu of Dr Kizza Besigye which capped the event. Besigye has been battling President Museveni’s regime on the streets and political campaigns for close to 20 years. Bobi Wine seems to be stealing his shine as an emerging opposition leader. Although Besigye has been accused of undermining new opposition leaders, however the colonel has ignored the criticism and offered to stand with voices that would ensure a peaceful transition of power from President Museveni to whoever will replace him. He says he has no problem standing with Bobi Wine.
