Mr. Joel Muhumuza, a Partner Support Specialist at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU) has expressed fear over Ugandans who have good knowledge of innovation yet they don’t know how to implement and market in the best possible way.
Revealing this, Mr. Muhumuza was giving out his views on financing innovations and enterprenuership during the innovation week that took place on Monday at the Innovation Village in Ntinda.
“Ugandans have very good innovation ideas but they lack best ways on how to implement them.” Noted Mr. Muhumuza.
He went ahead to explain that he is among the few innovators in Uganda who have experienced the same problem;giving an example of the “zoom app” that he had earlier innovated.
This app amplified the speed of Wifi ,easily located any new device and it was also good at maintaining the phone battery.
According to Mr. Muhumuza, this was something good but because he lacked the right people to put it to the market, the project did not go any far as he had expected.
He advised all innovators to always use the right people in the right places so as to gain from their products in the best way possible.
Mr. Muhumuza was supported by Ms. Veronica Sentongo from stanbic bank who advised all innovators to have products that are user firendly.
“You will not show me an app that is going to take forty five minutes to load and you think that i’m going to adopt it” said Ms. Sentongo.
She tipped innovators to always place their work in the hands of the right people to enable consumers have the right products.
Meanwhile, discussions to figure out challenges and solutions to make newly innovated products with the aim of making them a success are running for the whole of this week at the hub.
