The ministry of health has refuted claims of a strange disease in the districts of Mubende and Kibaale which had put the entire districts on Punic.
According to the ministry of health together with its collaborating laboratory in Atlanta, USA at the centers for disease control and prevention, the investigations into the alleged strange disease reported in mubende kibaale districts have been concluded with all suspects tested negative to the said disease.
The report shows that on 28th July 2018, the Mubende health office notified the ministry of health of 8 mysterious death from two villages in the same parish within a two-week period which prompted the ministry of health through its public health emergency operation centre to dispatch a rapid response team to Mubende to investigate and contain further spread of the disease.
The experts visited areas of Kiganda and Kassanda sub-counties last week, where dozens of residents are said to be infected with the peculiar disease.
The press statement issued by the ministry of health and signed by the minister of health Jane Ruth Aceng, the blood samples that were taken from 7 suspected cases and shipped to the Uganda virus research institute for testing were all tested for all known viral hemorrhagic fever, including Ebola, Marburg, Crimean congo, rifti valley fever, yellow fever, and others however saying one of the specimens tested was positive for plasmodium falcipar,known for causing malaria.
According to the minister two samples were found positive for malaria parasites.
The ministry has also said that all the patients who were previously isolated have been discharged after receiving treatment from Mubende regional referral hospital.
