The Gulu court martial has charged and remanded the Kyadondo east MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi wine to Makindye Military barracks until 23rd August.
Bobi Wine was taken quietly to court in the presence of his two lawyers Medard Ssegona and Asuman Basalirwa.
UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire said in a statement that Kyagulanyi was charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
He appeared before the General Court Martial in Gulu and “charged under S 119 (1) (h) of the UPDF Act, 2005 on accounts of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition”.
After his trial, Bobi Wine was airlifted to Makindye military barracks.
According to his one of his lawyers, the legislator was tortured and currently he cannot walk or talk.
He was arrested on Monday with other MPs and opposition supporters following a campaign violence which saw Bobi Wine’s driver shot dead as well as President Yoweri Museveni’s convoy attacked.
