Arua police on Wednesday displayed items including two guns they say were recovered from the hotel room in Arua that was occupied by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Items displayed as exhibits reportedly recovered from the room at Hotel Pacific that Bobi Wine occupied include two AK 47 guns with 30 rounds of Ammunitions each, a Pistol with 8 rounds of ammunitions, several mobile phones, red caps, T-shirts, among other items and these were paraded before the press in the office of the RPC north Western.
First Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali told Parliament that the legislator will on Thursday be charged for treason before the Army Court Martial.
However, speaking to one of the local news websites, the owner of Pacific Hotel Candia Luiji refuted police claims saying Bobi Wine did not enter the facility with any gun neither did security operatives find them during their search.
He said instead the security operatives just stole the legislator’s money worth shs80 million.
“These people did not get any gun here. They should be ashamed to tell lies to the public that they got guns. If they got the guns from somewhere, they should tell the public instead of blaming our hotel,” Luiji told PML Daily.
He further said following a campaign violence that saw Bobi Win’s driver shot dead, security operatives broke 22 doors of rooms during their search while beating some of the staff at the hotel. He added two of the staff were arrested.
“I will file for damages of the property and also what the guests lost. My lawyer is drafting the suit against the security forces,”Luiji disclosed.
